Football

Football is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. The objective of the game is to score goals by advancing a ball into the opposing team’s goal, primarily using the feet. The term “football” can refer to various codes of the sport, including association football (commonly known as soccer in the United States and Canada), American football, Canadian football, and rugby football.

In association football, the most widely played form globally, players use their feet to control, pass, and shoot the ball, while only goalkeepers can use their hands and arms within a designated area. The game is played on a rectangular field with a goal at each end and is typically divided into two halves.

The rules of football are governed by the International Football Association Board (IFAB) and overseen internationally by FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association). Football is known for its cultural significance worldwide, its capacity to bring communities together, and is celebrated through international tournaments such as the FIFA World Cup.
