Spaghetti Bolognese Supreme: A Hearty Italian Classic with a Savory Twist

Spaghetti Bolognese Supreme is a delicious and hearty Italian classic that combines the rich flavors of a slow-cooked meat sauce with the tender, al dente perfection of spaghetti. This dish is perfect for family gatherings or a comforting weekday dinner. The secret to its supreme flavor lies in the use of both ground beef and pancetta, along with a medley of vegetables and aromatic herbs. Follow this recipe to create an unforgettable culinary experience.

Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
4 oz pancetta, diced
1 large onion, finely chopped
2 carrots, finely chopped
2 celery stalks, finely chopped
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup red wine
1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
1/4 cup tomato paste
1 cup beef broth
2 tsp dried oregano
2 tsp dried basil
1 bay leaf
Salt and pepper to taste
2 tbsp olive oil
12 oz spaghetti
Freshly grated Parmesan cheese for garnish
Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Instructions:

1. Heat olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add the diced pancetta and cook until it becomes crispy. Remove the pancetta with a slotted spoon and set it aside, leaving the drippings in the pot.

2. Add the chopped onion, carrots, and celery to the pot. Sauté until the vegetables are softened, about 5-7 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.

3. Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef. Cook until the beef is browned, breaking it up with a spoon. Drain any excess fat if necessary.

4. Pour in the red wine and bring to a simmer. Allow the wine to reduce by half, which should take about 5 minutes.

5. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and beef broth. Add the dried oregano, dried basil, bay leaf, and the cooked pancetta. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

6. Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer gently for at least 1 hour, preferably 2 hours, stirring occasionally. The longer you let it simmer, the deeper the flavors will become.

7. About 15 minutes before serving, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain the spaghetti and set aside.

8. Remove the bay leaf from the Bolognese sauce. Toss the cooked spaghetti with the sauce until well coated.

9. Serve the Spaghetti Bolognese Supreme hot, garnished with freshly grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves.

Enjoy your Spaghetti Bolognese Supreme, a flavorful and comforting dish that brings a touch of Italy to your table!
