Climate Change

Climate Change refers to significant and lasting alterations in the Earth’s climate, particularly an increase in average global temperatures due to human activities, such as the burning of fossil fuels, deforestation, and industrial processes. These activities release greenhouse gases (GHGs) like carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane (CH4) into the atmosphere, leading to an enhanced greenhouse effect, which traps heat. The consequences of climate change include rising sea levels, more frequent and severe weather events (like hurricanes, droughts, and floods), shifts in ecosystems and wildlife populations, and disruptions to agricultural productivity. Climate change poses serious risks to natural environments, human health, and economies worldwide, necessitating urgent action to mitigate its effects and adapt to changing conditions.
